Lord of the Rings Online Delays Kinship Revamp, Confirms Work On Other Improvements
[ad_1]
It looks like Lord of the Rings Online is revising its 2024 roadmap, and some highly anticipated updates are getting shuffled around. In a surprise update posted on the forums this week, the game’s lead designer, Orion, addressed a slew of player questions regarding the long-running free-to-play MMORPG’s future. One of the key takeaways? The much-awaited kinship system revamp (LOTRO’s version of guilds) has been delayed.
“The kinship revamp is going to require more time than we expected,” Orion wrote. Originally planned for the Update 42 release, the kinship overhaul will need additional work to avoid pitfalls and incorporate player feedback. “We found some ideas from you, the players, which are really good and we feel need to be included in the revision… and we want to get this right.”
Orion also confirmed that projects like a 4K resolution option, character transfers from legacy servers, a new launcher, multi-factor authentication, and elf avatar improvements are still on track. He reassured fans that the team will be revising its content cadence next year to be “more open and obvious” for players.
Meanwhile, LOTRO players can dive into a new preview of the Legacy of Morgoth expansion with a quick tour of the Khûd Zagin region. You can check that out in this week’s “Casual Stroll” dev stream embedded below.
